HOW TO JOIN
First step is to scan a copy of your Amateur Licence into your computer as you need to prove your request is legitimate, fair enough I say. There will be a short wait while your details are verified and from memory it was about 48 hours tops.
Step two go to the Echolink site http://www.echolink.org/ and carefully follow the instructions. This a free download and works on dial-up as well as ADSL or Broadband. Each step is detailed and doesn't take long to fill out the required information. The longest time is the download particularly on Dial-up, sorry.
Once you have it installed go for a wander through it and set things up how you would like it. If you are unsure of things the help desk guys are really great plus any number of users will happily offer helpful tips and advice. Including how to set up for two or more different users on the same computer, ours is set for David ZL3AI and myself.
I have done it on both dial-up and DSL/broadband and it's fine. However if you upgrade your internet connection you will have to delete your current version and upload echolink again. However once you are registered there is no need to go through the initial process, just enter your email or password and it's all on.
